On 15th October , the newly appointed Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care, Andrea Sutcliffe, outlined her priorities for transforming how the Care Quality Commission (CQC) will monitor, inspect and regulate care homes and other adult social care services, with a greater focus on public involvement and improvement.
Her plans and priorities were to be set out in the strategy document A Fresh Start for the Regulation and Inspection of Adult Social Care, ahead of a full public consultation in spring 2014.
There is now a CQC webpage dedicated to this ‘Fresh Start’ agenda. Most importantly, this page has links to PDFs of the now published Fresh Start strategy document (in Standard and Easy-Read formats).
Rescare will post information on the consultation promised for spring 2014, as and when it becomes available.
For information, the vacancy at the social care institute for excellence (SCIE) for a new Chief Executive, created by Andrea Sutcliffe’s departure to the CQC, has been filled by Tony Hunter (Chief Executive of North East Lincolnshire Council and Senior Vice President of the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives (SOLACE)), according to this SCIE press release.
