Further to the news item on executive salaries in the voluntary sector, posted today (7th August 2013) on this website…
The Telegraph observed “The charities are not required to detail how much their top executives are paid by name, and many express the sums in bands, disguising the true figure”; but it had discovered that last year Sir Nick Young (British Red Cross) received £184,000, Justin Forsyth (Save the Children) £163,000, and Loretta Minghella (Christian Aid) £126,072.
Anyone interested in a particular charity may of course view the financial statement within its annual return on the Charity Commission website.
Rescare’s annual return is available there. On the evidence available from this source, the ‘pay gap’ between the ‘big’ charities and the rest is widening: Mencap, for example, in 2012 had 39 employees whose total emoluments were inexcess of £60,000. (The figure for Rescare was 0).
