Further to our blog-item on the threat to residential homes such as Stanley Grange and Bystock Court  a Rescare member has alerted us to this letter in the Daily Telegraph 28th April. The letter was written by parent-carers partly in response to Jane Raca’s feature article published the previous day.

Many residents of the care homes under threat have lived there for many years – for example, we are aware that some residents of Stanley Grange have lived there for over 30 years, and are happy there.  When they first arrived, these residents (and their relatives) were often ‘led to understand’ or specifically told that the placement would be secure and permanent; as Sheila and John Murray put it, their daughter would have ‘a place for life’. But obviously such assurances mean less than corporate objectives and mission statements…
