8th Feb 2013: In its latest  report, the House of Commons’ Public Accounts Committee has expressed severe criciticisms of the Work Capability Assessment and its implementation by Atos.

MPs stated that this had resulted in too many wrong decisions which were overturned on appeal. Its chair Margaret Hodge accused the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) of being “unduly complacent” and of hurting the “most vulnerable”, and called on the DWP to “get a grip”.

Employment minister Mark Hoban accused the MPs of “scaremongering”.
