Rescare has just received the latest ‘Stakeholder Bulletin’ from The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), ‘a digest of DWP measures announced in today’s Budget’. It includes the following announcement:
Increase in Carer’s Allowance earnings threshold
Carers cannot earn over a prescribed earnings limit, currently set at £100 a week, net of allowable expenses. The earning limit has not been increased since 2010. The Chancellor announced an increase in the prescribed earnings limit to £102.
We are slightly underwhelmed by this pronouncement. The Budget statement was top-heavy with references to ‘support for hardworking families’, but offered little for hardworking carers…
