The case of David Hyde and his 11-year struggle on behalf of his brother Anthony http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2012/aug/06/learning-disability-support-battle-victory (Guardian, 6th Aug 2012), cited in our Latest News, promotes very mixed feelings:
- admiration at David Hyde’s persistence,
- relief that the LGO eventually found in his favour,
- but anger and worry that it took so long for the complaints processes to be followed to their conclusion.
Whilst, technically, no formal legal or judicial process has been involved, and despite the a final outcome in David and Anthony Hyde’s favour, it is hard not to think of the axiom (coined apparently by William Gladstone) that “Justice delayed is justice denied”
