Well I didn’t think we would be doing this again so soon after last time but who am I to expect that 5 year fixed term parliaments should actually mean that!
Once again I am going to read all the manifestos for the main political parties for references to learning disability and specific policies that affect people with a learning disability.
First off the blocks is the Labour Party who published their manifesto yesterday and it is very easily downloadable, just enter labour party manifesto into your search engine.
The pages that are most relevant are:
56-56 titled “Dignity For Those Who Cannot Work” which promises to:

71-72 titled “Towards a National Care Service”

This section talks about the need for a national care service to sit alongside the NHS and provide social care in the same way the NHS provides health care.

73 “Mental Health”

Promise to ring-fence mental health budgets and there is a lot on child and adolescent mental health services ( I know that this affects a lot of our readers)

113 “People with Disabilities”

Promise to sign the United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disability (UNCRPD) into UK law

I will of course be reading the other manifestos as they are published and will update this blog accordingly.
