The best, in not the only extensive coverage of Scotland’s newly established Learning Disability Awards was in the Daily Record.
The full report is available via this link – but perhaps we may just quote its opening words
“MUCH is written about the struggles and challenges faced by those living with learning disabilities.
But a new awards competition is shining a spotlight on their amazing achievements instead.
Scotland’s first national Learning Disability Awards – run by the Scottish Commission for Learning Disability (SCLD) – took place on Friday night.
Prizes were handed out in seven categories at the ceremony at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow.
It was a glittering night that celebrated the rarely heard stories and achievements of those with learning disabilities and the people who support them.”
(For info: the equivalent Learning Disabilities Awards ceremony will take place on 14th July 2017 at the ICC Birmingham)
